Double delight for top-flight favourite backers

THERE was double delight for Premier League favourite backers as Manchester City and Tottenham justified their odds-on status to maintain pressure on leaders Chelsea.

City, 4-13 with 188Bet, are eight points behind Chelsea and 8-1 to win the title following their 2-0 triumph at Sunderland.

Sergio Aguero scored first and Leroy Sane doubled City's advantage in a Stadium of Light stroll for Pep Guardiola's side.

Tottenham comfortably obliged for their backers at 4-6 even if the 3-2 score suggested a more tense battle against Everton at White Hart Lane.

Harry Kane continued his red-hot streak with another brace to go with last week's hat-trick against Stoke as the England international took his Premier League tally to 19 for the campaign.

Kane, one clear of the pack, is evens to retain his Golden Boot crown, while bet365 rate him evens to notch at least 28 top-flight goals this season.

The same firm offer 20-1 he breaks the Premier League goalscoring record of 260 after moving on to 68 in just 108 appearances.

Coral rate Kane 10-1 from 16-1 to beat Jimmy Greaves's all-time Tottenham goalscoring record of 267 following his 87th and 88th Spurs goals in 155 outings.

Lukaku is Kane's closest challenger in the Golden Boot race on 18 and 4-1 to finish as the top goalscorer but his White Hart Lane goal was in vein, much like Enner Valencia's consolation after Dele Alli had put the game beyond Everton.

Tottenham, up to second but having played a game more than Chelsea and City, are seven points off the leaders and 16-1 to win the Premier League.

A more realistic aim is to secure Champions League football for next season and Spurs are 1-6 to finish in the top four.

Celtic will meet Old Firm rivals Rangers in the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-finals, while Hibernian face Aberdeen.
